An evaluation meeting on Arakan was held in the Union of NGOs of the Islamic World (UNIW) headquarters with the participation of the representatives of humanitarian relief organizations in Turkey on 25 July, 2012. In the meeting presided by Secretary General Lawyer Ali Kurt, some subtopics notably the dimensions of tyranny applied on Rohingya Muslims, situation of refugees in Bangladesh and relief works was handled and the actions to be taken on the issue were specified.

UNIW COUNCIL MEMBER PAID AN OBSERVATORY VISIT TO MYANMAR

Rohingya Muslims in Arakan State, located in the west of Myanmar, are under oppression since early June and international community is not aware of the real dimensions of the tyranny and unjust practices applied upon Rohingya people by the Buddhist Rakhines with the support of the police force in the country. 

President of the Union for Syrian Academicians and Scientists Prof. Dr. Amir Abu Salama paid a courtesy visit to the Union of NGOs of the Islamic World (UNIW). Prof. Amir gave detailed information to UNIW Secretary General Lawyer Ali Kurt and the authorities about the genocide and latest developments in Syria.

The 8th International Youth Gathering (IYG) was held by the Union of the NGOs of the Islamic World (UNIW) between 7 and 12 July 2012 with the participation of more than 100 students from 32 countries.

Secretary General Mahmoud Said Shouq and General Manager Sami Hammaad from Irshad Humanitarian Aid Association centered in Tripoli and acting in a wide area of north Lebanon paid a courtesy visit to the Union of NGOs of the Islamic World (UNIW). The delegation was received by UNIW Secretary General Att. Ali Kurt.

The Union of NGOs of the Islamic World condemned the massacre of 14 Rohingya Muslims and injuring many others in a communal cum religious riot on the 8th of June 2012 in Maung Daw Township,north of the Arakan State, Myanmar. Reports coming from Myanmar, confirmed that the riot has spread throughout Arakan where houses were burnt, and killing spree perpetrated by the Rakhine Buddhists on the Rohingya Muslims reminiscence of the massacre in 1942, 1978 and 1992 where thousands lost their lives due to religious hatred similar to the ethnic cleansing in Bosnia in 1992 and now in Syria worst than the world has ever seen.

Fifth Elective General Assembly Meeting of the Union of NGOs of the Islamic World (UNIW) was successfully held in the general headquarters of Politics Foundation with the participation of council members and delegations.

Shukri Muhammad al-Jouyili, Secretary General of Ayadi Al Khair Relief and Humanitarian Aid Association, the head office of which is in the capital of Libya, Tripoli, paid a courtesy visit to the UNIW. In the meeting, information about both the association activities and the recent status quo in Libya was given.
