An evaluation meeting on Arakan was held in the Union of NGOs of the Islamic World (UNIW) headquarters with the participation of the representatives of humanitarian relief organizations in Turkey on 25 July, 2012. In the meeting presided by Secretary General Lawyer Ali Kurt, some subtopics notably the dimensions of tyranny applied on Rohingya Muslims, situation of refugees in Bangladesh and relief works was handled and the actions to be taken on the issue were specified.

UNIW COUNCIL MEMBER PAID AN OBSERVATORY VISIT TO MYANMAR

Rohingya Muslims in Arakan State, located in the west of Myanmar, are under oppression since early June and international community is not aware of the real dimensions of the tyranny and unjust practices applied upon Rohingya people by the Buddhist Rakhines with the support of the police force in the country.

The Union of NGOs of the Islamic World condemned the massacre of 14 Rohingya Muslims and injuring many others in a communal cum religious riot on the 8th of June 2012 in Maung Daw Township,north of the Arakan State, Myanmar. Reports coming from Myanmar, confirmed that the riot has spread throughout Arakan where houses were burnt, and killing spree perpetrated by the Rakhine Buddhists on the Rohingya Muslims reminiscence of the massacre in 1942, 1978 and 1992 where thousands lost their lives due to religious hatred similar to the ethnic cleansing in Bosnia in 1992 and now in Syria worst than the world has ever seen.

Al-Azhar University in Egypt being the first university in the world providing Islamic education has put its signature under a great project. The university is going to organize Islamic Education Seminars for graduates of Imam Khatib High School (Islamic High Schools in Turkey).
