Thirteenth meeting of the Union of NGOs of The Islamic Worl (UNIW) Council has been ended in Istanbul with participation of members from Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Morocco, Lebanon, Kuwait and Somalia.
Council Meeting has started with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an in general headquarters of Günışığı Association for Education, Culture and for Social Assistance.
Secretary General of UNIW Necmi Sadıkoglu has started the meeting with an opening speech welcoming the members. In his speech Mr. Sadıkoğlu reiterated determined position of UNIW towards the unity among its members whole around the world.
He also summarized and briefed council members on the UNIW activities from May to October 2011.
“As some of you were with us at the last council meeting in Indonesia, from that time till now we have organized: International Symposium on Family and Sixth International Youth Gathering and evaluation of the other activities.”
Financial matters were also discussed at the meeting where annual fee question was raised and all member organizations were encouraged to give their support.
Ahmad Azzam Abdurrahman UNIW Council Member from Malaysia indicated the need for establishment of Youth Wing.
2012-2013 Draft Annual Program was also discussed in the council meeting while the new membership applications were also evaluated.
In this context the following membership application was decided by consensus to be forwarded to the General Assembly for official approval:
1 - HOW - House of Wisdom for Conflict Resolution and Counseling Center / Palestine
2 - PKPU National Humanitarian Foundation / Indonesia
3 - Azzagra Cultural Foundation / Spain
4 - International Youth Union for Jerusalem / Lebanon
5 - Youth Stability Projects Organization /Sudan
6 - International Holy Qur’an Memorization Organization / Saudi Arabia
7 - Irshad and Islah Humanitarian Relief Association / Lebanon
