20 new members joined UNIW in the 5th Council Meeting which was held in Kuwait in May 31-June 1, 2008 and the number of the members of UNIW reached 130.

The new member institutions are as follows:

1.    Cultural Humanitarian Organization Merhamet – CHOM,  Macedonia

2.    WAFA, Germany

UNIW committee headed by Secretary General Necmi Sadıkoğlu visited Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait Sakir Fakılı after the 5th Council Meeting held in Kuwait. Having answered the questions of UNIW committee, the Ambassador was informed about UNIW’s activities by the Secretary General Necmi Sadıkoğlu.

Expressing his content with the visit, the ambassador stated that it was the first large-scale meeting and visit that has ever been organised in Kuwait among non-governmental organizations.

UNIW 5th Council meeting which was held in Kuwait on May 31-June 1, 2008 has ended. Many high rank authorities of Kuwait participated the opening session of the meeting which started with the recitation of Qur’an.

In the session, whose opening speech was made by Yusuf Casim el-Hacci Ebu Ya’kub, after the Secretary General Necmi Sadıkoğlu’s delivered a speech, some presentations were made which give information about the host institution, International Islamic Relief Organization (Jamiyya Al-Khayriyya) and UNIW.

UNIW Secretary General Necmi Sadıkoğlu gave important messages to the Islamic World in the 5th Council meeting which was held in Kuwait and in his speech containing some clues about the activities of UNIW in the next period, he stated that UNIW would be more efficient by reaching the geographic and demographic representation and they would be able to pass into period of action. Secretary General Sadıkoğlu addressed the following speech:

The Union of NGOs of the Islamic World Council Meeting will be gathering on Saturday May 31, 2008 in Kuwait. For this important meeting apart from the council members from 20 countries, there will be a committee of civil society leaders and academicians as well.
